Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ivan Volkov (ranked 729 p4p, 89 weight class) and Elazar Shalit (ranked 1444 p4p, 170 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ivan Volkov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 2 - 2, fighting out of Los Angeles, Elazar Shalit!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, James Glass and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shalit keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Volkov moves in looking to clinch but Shalit pushes him off.
Shalit misses the jab.
Shalit walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Volkov displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Shalit throws out the jab.
Volkov appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
We've been hearing reports that Volkov has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Volkov throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Shalit throws a poor cross that misses
and Volkov connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Volkov scores with a nice head shot.
Volkov avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Volkov feinted with a counter takedown.
Shalit throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Shalit tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Volkov defends well and Shalit ends up having to push Volkov into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Volkov is looking to counter punch.
Volkov shoots in looking for a takedown. Shalit tries to sprawl out of it but Volkov keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Shalit manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shalit throws a looping overhand right but Volkov ducks down to avoid it.
Shalit lands a slapping body shot.
Volkov moves out of range of the strikes.
Elazar Shalit seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Volkov slips under a jab from Shalit.

A chopping leg kick lands by Shalit.
Volkov fails with a takedown attempt.
Shalit throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Volkov's head.
Volkov has taken the fight to the clinch.
Volkov trying to control the position but instead, Shalit has worked for underhooks and has pushed Volkov into the cage.
Shalit tries a body shot but Volkov blocks it.
Volkov breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Shalit connects with a high kick.
Shalit misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Volkov.
Volkov slips under a jab from Shalit.

A decent looking cross lands there for Volkov.
Shalit moves in looking to clinch but Volkov pushes him off.

Shalit digs a right hand underneath Volkov's ribcage. Volkov let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Shalit makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Volkov looking to stall.
Volkov tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Volkov pushes Shalit back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Volkov stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Shalit misses with some punches.
Volkov tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Shalit's elbow.
Shalit tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Volkov tries a body shot but Shalit blocks it.
Volkov blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Shalit misses with a punch on the inside.
Shalit prevents a body shot from Volkov.
A nice right hand lands inside from Volkov.
Shalit swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Volkov wants the takedown. Shalit is fighting it off but Volkov persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Shalit's guard against the cage.
Shalit working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Volkov doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Shalit is tightening it up a little... Volkov has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Volkov reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Volkov taps out! Nice BJJ there by Shalit!

After winning the bout, Elazar Shalit thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
