The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slovich shoots in looking for a takedown. Lashley tries to sprawl out of it but Slovich keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Lashley manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Slovich misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Lashley forces Slovich back against the cage and clinches.
Slovich is trying to drag Lashley to the mat but Lashley just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dimitri Slovich. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Slovich can't get the takedown.

Lashley manages to break the clinch.
Lashley connects with a body shot.
Slovich closes this distance looking for a takedown but Lashley circles away.

Lashley moves into range and clinches up with Slovich.

Lashley gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Slovich won't allow Lashley to pass to mount.
Lashley takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Lashley takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Lashley is nestled in close to Slovich, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Lashley seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Slovich looks like he's trying to stand up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Slovich is breathing heavily.

Lashley decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Lashley shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Lashley in particular looking to stall.
Lashley passes the guard and advances to mount!
Slovich really wants to buck Lashley off and get back to his feet.

Lashley working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Slovich looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Lashley! Submission of the night perhaps?
