PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Stefan De Jong (ranked 2887 p4p, 3132 weight class) and Jeremy Wayne (ranked 349 p4p, 367 weight class). De Jong comes into the arena with Nipsey Hussle - I Don't Stress blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Stefan De Jong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jeremy Wayne!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Trevor Gratis and Steve Smith.

Wayne displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from De Jong.
A nice side step and Wayne releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Wayne is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
De Jong rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Wayne moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

De Jong definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Wayne throws an elbow but it misses.

De Jong manages to pull guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
De Jong is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Wayne must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Wayne wants to stand but De Jong is controlling his posture from full guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

De Jong's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
De Jong has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Wayne's face.

De Jong has control of Wayne's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Wayne regains control of the situation pretty easily.

De Jong has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Wayne's face.

Wayne tries to clinch up but De Jong circles away and keeps his distance.
De Jong drops down looking for a counter takedown but Wayne sprawls and moves away.

De Jong fails to land the takedown.
Wayne throws a nice looking combination but De Jong bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

De Jong has taken the fight to the clinch.
De Jong tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Wayne's elbow.
Wayne is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
Wayne on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Still in the clinch, De Jong scores with a nice short uppercut.

Wayne breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Wayne keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
De Jong sets himself, and Wayne steps forward looking for the clinch! De Jong avoids it this time.

Wayne tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but De Jong paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Wayne is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
De Jong is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Wayne can do to turn this around?

Wayne is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

As Wayne looks to move away, De Jong throws a big counter combo but Wayne just gets out of the way.

De Jong fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Wayne, pushing him back against the cage.
De Jong lands a left hand that snaps the head of Wayne backwards.
De Jong tries to score a body lock takedown but Wayne shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Wayne tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and De Jong avoids it.
Wayne creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through De Jong's defenses.

De Jong manages to break the clinch.
Wayne is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

De Jong gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Wayne regains guard.

De Jong thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

De Jong won't allow Wayne to get back to his feet.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
De Jong is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Wayne really doesn't want to stay on the ground with De Jong. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

De Jong had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Wayne defends it easily.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Wayne throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
A solid leg kick lands there for Wayne.

Wayne pushes De Jong off but De Jong dives into side control.
Stefan De Jong overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

De Jong goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Wayne has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for De Jong but great work by Wayne.
You can see the frustration on De Jong's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
De Jong is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
De Jong manages to work his way to half guard, despite Wayne's best efforts.

It looks like Wayne is going to stand back up.
De Jong has his hands clasped together around Wayne's back. He's all about the action.

De Jong manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Wayne manages to get himself to full guard.

De Jong lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
De Jong is taking a breather. Wayne says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Wayne wants to improve his position but De Jong is controlling well.
De Jong is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for De Jong, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
