PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Caine Longworth (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gil Brother (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brother changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Longworth tries to avoid it but Brother manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Longworth to the ground. Longworth escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Gil Brother seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Longworth fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Brother sprawls well initially but Longworth persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Longworth is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Brother defends it well.
Longworth knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Brother on the ground.
Brother is looking for a sweep. Longworth is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Longworth seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Brother does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Longworth doesn't manage to clinch there - Brother circles away.

Brother misses with a few strikes there.
Brother throws a right hand that Longworth ducks under and follows up with a left that Longworth also avoids with ease.

Longworth clinches.

Longworth is fighting off a takedown attempt but Brother is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Longworth to the mat. Longworth regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Brother drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Brother jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Longworth on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Longworth tries to get out of the position.

Brother loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Longworth is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Brother is controlling him.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Brother misses with a jab, cross combination.
Longworth takes a head kick and keeps coming.
A good leg kick by Longworth.
Horrible takedown by Longworth or perhaps it was just good defense by Brother which made him look bad.
Brother throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

and Brother cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Brother just misses with a punch to the body.
Brother throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Longworth.

and Longworth counters with a nice uppercut.

and Longworth counters with a series of strikes. Brother will be more careful next time no doubt.
No joy there for Brother, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Longworth takes the fight into the clinch.

Caine Longworth has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gil Brother.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Longworth pulls Brother into guard.

Longworth utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

A close round but Gil Brother will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Brother uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Longworth has time to react.

Longworth stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Brother swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Brother is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Longworth rolls with it to try and escape but Brother cranks on the arm and Longworth is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
