PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rammsie Hartmann (ranked 2504 p4p, 319 weight class) and Kobe Covington (ranked 3684 p4p, 442 weight class). Covington has chosen Starboy as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Rammsie Hartmann!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kobe Covington!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Roosa Järviläinen and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Covington shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hartmann pinned against the cage. Hartmann gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Hartmann throws a series of punches but Covington moves out of range.
Covington throws a counter combo.
Covington shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hartmann as he avoids it easily.
Hartmann misses with a hook.
Covington shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hartmann sprawls well. Hartmann wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Covington gets slowly back to his feet.
Rammsie Hartmann has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kobe Covington.
Covington fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hartmann avoids it really well and circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Covington can do anything to dispel that myth.

We've been hearing that Hartmann has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Covington managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Hartmann.

Hartmann decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Hartmann throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Covington.

Hartmann has closed the distance and engaged Covington in a clinch.

Hartmann is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Covington has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Covington creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Covington lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Covington is looking to take a break and control but Hartmann is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Hartmann tries to bench press Covington off him but Covington keeps the position.
Covington works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Hartmann really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Covington goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Hartmann rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Covington's guard! Nice work there by Hartmann!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Hartmann makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hartmann has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Covington is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Hartmann will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Hartmann is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Hartmann wants to control from the top but Covington keeps moving.
Covington doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Rammsie Hartmann dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Horrible takedown attempt by Covington or perhaps it was just good defense by Hartmann, which made it look bad.

Covington shoots in for a takedown but Hartmann shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Hartmann manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Covington on his heels. He'll look to pass Covington's guard now, I'm sure.
Covington wants to control the position but Hartmann says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Hartmann lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Hartmann throws a big right hand that misses.
Hartmann wants to control from the top but Covington keeps moving.
Hartmann is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Covington can do to turn this around?
Covington has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Hartmann has passed into side control.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Check out the look on Hartmann's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Covington is looking to regain half guard here but Hartmann keeps moving and retains side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hartmann wants to lay and pray for a moment but Covington keeps working.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Covington darts in looking for a takedown but Hartmann gets double underhooks and turns Covington into the cage.
Covington is still on wobbly legs! Can Hartmann finish him?

Rammsie Hartmann seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hartmann clinches up against the cage.
Hartmann lands with a right to the head.
Hartmann pushes Covington against the cage. Hartmann is working some dirty boxing. Hartmann pushes off with a quick right hook! Covington goes down! Covington tries to stand but stumbles back to his kness! Hartmann moves in to finish and the ref steps in to prevent any more damage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:15 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rammsie Hartmann!
Our winner, Rammsie Hartmann, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
The defeated Kobe Covington had this to say: 'I fought this bum with the Corona virus I think I still take the W'.
