Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Klaus Silverstein (ranked 3902 p4p, 363 weight class) and Brandon Maia (ranked 25520 p4p, 569 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Seu Braga and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maia walks into a left hand.
A slow jab from Silverstein misses its intended target.
Silverstein misses with a shot to the body
and Maia counters with a straight right hand.
Maia shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Silverstein sprawls well. Silverstein wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Maia gets slowly back to his feet.
Maia uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Silverstein.
Maia looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Silverstein seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Silverstein tries to free his leg and advance position but Maia is retaining full guard.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Silverstein's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Maia tries to score a power double leg takedown but Silverstein sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Maia somewhat.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Silverstein tries for a takedown. No joy.
Silverstein wants to break free but Maia has control.
Maia's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Maia enables Silverstein to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Maia manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Silverstein uses his free foot to push down on Maia's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Maia.
Silverstein is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Maia is forced to tap! Great finish!
