Putin comes to the cage accompanied by Mamma Said Knock You Out. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Aleksandr Martynov and Aleksei Zolotukhin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lavelle tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Putin paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Putin showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Lavelle.
Putin shoots in and bounces Lavelle off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Lavelle wants to get back to his feet but Putin is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Lavelle doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Putin stands and throws Lavelle's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Putin decides to stand up, so the ref orders Lavelle to his feet.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Putin keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Putin drives through with a takedown into guard.

Putin thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Putin working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Lavelle pushes Putin away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Putin gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Putin is trying to get an arm triangle but Lavelle is defending well.

Lavelle looks gassed!
Putin wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Lavelle, who protects the arm well.
Putin scores with a couple of short elbows.
Lavelle is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Putin has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Lavelle is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Putin yanks on the arm and Lavelle is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Putin.
