Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kris Porzingis (ranked 4119 p4p, 489 weight class) and Aylin Shah (ranked 5655 p4p, 589 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kris Porzingis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 1, fighting out of New York, Aylin Shah!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Ben Hemmingworth and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shah misses with a low kick.
Shah cracks Porzingis with a good jab.

Porzingis dives in and scores a takedown into Shah's guard.
Shah wants to sweep here but Porzingis controlling him for the moment.

Shah looking for a guillotine here but Porzingis defends easily.

Shah looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Porzingis definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Porzingis throws a big elbow that misses.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Porzingis accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Porzingis wants to pass the guard but Shah is keeping the position.

Shah is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Porzingis sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Shah's guard.
Shah is trying to maintain the position but Porzingis is very close to passing his half guard.
Porzingis really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Porzingis is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Shah escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Porzingis gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Porzingis wants to stand but Shah is controlling his posture from full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Porzingis forces his way into half guard.
Shah is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Shah makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Shah.
Porzingis wants to control from the top but Shah keeps moving.

Shah has his foot on Porzingis's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Porzingis works his way back into a safe position though.

Shah has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Porzingis is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Shah.

Shah wants to control but Porzingis postures up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Porzingis is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Shah knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Porzingis works to advance to full mount. Shah defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Shah misses with a wild combination.
Porzingis tries to close the distance and clinch up but Shah swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Porzingis throws a body shot but no joy.
Shah lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Shah throws a right and a left that Porzingis avoids nicely.
Shah throws a low kick but it's checked well by Porzingis.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Porzingis is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Shah can't fight it off and eventually Porzingis manages to take the fight to the floor. Shah looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Porzingis is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Shah can do to turn this around?
Shah bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Porzingis's guard.

Shah stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Porzingis swivels though and keeps the full guard.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Shah working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Shah connects with a couple of short punches.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Shah is nestled in close to Porzingis, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Shah is keen to just control but Porzingis is a slippery customer.

Shah is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Porzingis!
Porzingis tries to hold on but Shah pushes him away.
Porzingis is squirming around, avoiding Shah's attempts to control the action.
Shah content just to control the position here.
Shah throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Shah pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Porzingis holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Shah tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Porzingis is in a horrible position here. Shah smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Aylin Shah showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! And we move into the final round!


Shah fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Shah scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Porzingis shoots in and bounces Shah off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
