Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Granger (ranked 1077 p4p, 138 weight class) and Ryan Riggs (ranked 677 p4p, 96 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 12 - 2, fighting out of New York, Ryan Riggs!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Steven Brown and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Riggs's coach down at Big Apple Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Riggs's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Granger here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

That was a close second round but I would say that Frank Granger will probably get the nod.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Granger lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.


That has opened up Ryan Riggs's cut even more.
Riggs takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Riggs takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Granger has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Granger there as he acknowledges the shot.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Granger, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
