PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cesar Minarro (ranked 4514 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gangster Keith (ranked 24357 p4p, 0 weight class). Keith has chosen Gangster's Paradise as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cesar Minarro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gangster Keith!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Columbo Gatti and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Keith shoots in but Minarro avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Keith scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Minarro is looking to regain half guard here but Keith keeps moving and retains side control.

Keith tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Keith has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Minarro pushes Keith away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Keith gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A lull in the action here as Keith stalls from top position.
Minarro is not content to let Keith control the position.

Minarro is looking to regain half guard here but Keith keeps moving and retains side control.
Minarro really is a fat lump.
Keith tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Minarro on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Minarro tries to get out of the position.
Minarro tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Keith wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Keith tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Minarro swivels and escapes.

and Minarro counters with a shoot takedown. Keith fights it but they end up in guard.
Minarro might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Keith working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Minarro doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Minarro manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Keith lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Keith postures up in Minarro's guard and throws a big left but Minarro blocks it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Minarro has his foot on Keith's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Keith works his way back into a safe position though.
Keith lands a couple of elbows.
Minarro looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Keith puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Keith is looking to take a break and control but Minarro is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A close round but Gangster Keith will probably get the nod.

Keith is looking to stand back up but Minarro counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Keith.

Keith has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Minarro is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Keith.

Keith throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Minarro escapes and throws Keith's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Minarro thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Minarro laying and praying for a moment but Keith takes advantage and regains half guard.
Keith tries to kick Minarro off but Minarro keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Minarro wants to clinch up but Keith keeps it at a distance.
Keith tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Minarro wanted to stand there but Keith had control of the position.

Keith shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Minarro but Minarro pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Minarro in particular looking to stall.
Keith won't allow Minarro to pass to mount.

Minarro passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Keith!
Minarro wants to control the pace but Keith is squirming around nicely.

Minarro goes for an armbar but Keith turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Keith.

Keith wants to get up but he can't break Minarro's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Minarro wants to hit a sweep here but Keith passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Minarro there!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Cesar Minarro.
Well Minarro has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
