Palacios comes to the ring accompanied by Journey - Don't Stop Believin'. Melvin de Weert is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hector Palacios!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Melvin de Weert!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yukihiro Shimada and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A lazy left from Palacios finds it's target.
de Weert misses with a wild combination.
de Weert misses the shot to the body.
Palacios cracks de Weert with an uppercut from hell and de Weert crumples to the canvas, he's out! Oh no, he's recovered and he's grabbed one of Palacios's legs and pulled him into guard. The ref thought about stopping it there but he's let it go - good reffing!


de Weert is rocked!
Palacios is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
de Weert is still in real trouble! Can Palacios finish him?
de Weert is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
de Weert can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Palacios controls the pace.
de Weert seems to have recovered his senses.
Palacios prevents de Weert from getting back to his feet.
Palacios stands and throws de Weert's legs to the side, diving into side control.
de Weert looks gassed!
Palacios remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Palacios has knee on belly and moves into mount.
de Weert tries to hold on but Palacios pushes him away.
Palacios looking to control and managing it successfully.
Palacios's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Hector Palacios just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Palacios throws an overhand right that lands on de Weert's shoulder, as de Weert tries to avoid the shot.
de Weert shoots for a double leg takedown but Palacios sprawls well. He's pushed de Weert's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
de Weert slips a straight right by Palacios.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Palacios connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between de Weert's hands.
Today's fight clock is brought to you by... OOOH that's a huge shot by Palacios! de Weert is in big trouble here - the ref steps in to save him and this one is all over!
