PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Dix (ranked 25029 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Malone (ranked 5588 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Bob Malone was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jack Dix!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Bob Malone!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Roosa Järviläinen and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Malone shoots for a double leg takedown but Dix sprawls well. He's pushed Malone's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Malone instigates a clinch.
Dix working hard to break the clinch.

Malone manages to pull guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Malone is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Dix has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Malone has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Dix is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Malone has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Dix after a bit of a struggle.

Malone has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Dix uses from the top position.

Dix has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Malone is proving hard to escape from.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Dix.
Dix throws a right and a left that both miss.
Malone displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Dix.

Malone manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Dix manages to get himself to full guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Dix blocks an elbow strike from Malone.
Malone goes for a takedown in the clinch but Dix prevents it.

Malone pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Malone shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Dix but Dix pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Malone gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Dix struggles to land a body shot inside as Malone controls his hands.
Dix wants to break the clinch but can't.
Malone tries to pull guard but Dix holds him up against the cage and eventually Malone drops back down to his feet.

Dix is trying to force a seperation but Malone has the dominant position.
Dix has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Dix wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Dix goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Dix goes for a takedown attempt but Malone pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Dix looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Malone wants to counter the offense by Dix and move into the clinch position.
Dix displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Malone.

Malone shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Dix as he avoids it easily.

Malone keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Dix's efforts to push away.

Dix tries to stand but Malone is controlling from the bottom.
Malone pulls Dix in close to prevent any damage.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Dix leaves Malone with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Malone changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Dix tries to avoid it but Malone manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Dix to the ground. Dix escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Jack Dix seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dix misses with a wild combination.
The fight stays on the outside here - Malone looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Dix throws a push kick but Malone slaps the foot to one side.
Malone tries to score a power double leg takedown but Dix sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Malone somewhat.

and Malone counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Dix is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Malone moves in looking to clinch but Dix pushes him off.
Sloppy strikes from Dix. Those never looked like landing.
Malone shoots in but no luck this time.
Dix throws a big counter combination but Malone scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Malone shoots in looking for a takedown. Dix tries to sprawl out of it but Malone keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Dix manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Malone gets tackled into the cage by Dix. Dix maintains the clinch.

Malone is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Malone stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Dix lands a nice shot that snaps Malone's head back.

Dix throws a quick counter kick to the body but Malone avoids it.

As Dix backs off Malone throws a huge counter combo but Dix manages to avoid it all.
Dix misses with a few strikes there.
Jack Dix is winning the standup battle so far.

Malone closes the distance and clinches.
Dix tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Malone smiles and moves away.
Dix misses with a wild combination.
Dix keeps the fight on the outside.

Malone moves into the clinch successfully.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Malone manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Dix postures up in Malone's guard and throws a big left but Malone blocks it.
Malone not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Dix wants to stand and escape but instead Malone has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Dix is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Malone is controlling him.
