PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eladio Chu (ranked 5644 p4p, 527 weight class) and Joe Boxer (ranked 2946 p4p, 368 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Eladio Chu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Boxer!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Franklyn Lucas and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Boxer drives through and clinches with Chu against the cage.
Chu wants a takedown but no success here.

Boxer has picked Chu up - he's going for a ride! Boxer dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Boxer takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Boxer landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Boxer stalling.
Boxer's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Boxer lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Chu is trying to get back to full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Chu is looking to get back to full guard here but Boxer has managed to pass to side control instead.
Chu is trying to work for a sweep but Boxer has mounted him!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Boxer lands a nice shot to the head.

Boxer has hold of Chu's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Chu manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Chu is looking to improve his position but Boxer isn't that keen on the idea.
Boxer looking to control and managing it successfully.
Boxer lands a heavy elbow.

Boxer looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Boxer is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent.
Boxer looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Boxer looking to control and managing it successfully.

It looks like Eladio Chu has been cut.
Boxer landing strikes from the mount.

Boxer is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Chu is surviving well by controlling Boxer's body position as best he can.

Let's hope that Boxer has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
It looks like Boxer might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Eladio Chu's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Boxer gets a clinch.
Chu is looking to take this one to the mat.
Boxer tries to circle away but Chu has him pinned against the cage.

Boxer has hold of one of Chu's legs. Chu is fighting the takedown attempt but Boxer gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Boxer is looking to stand up but Chu won't let him.
Boxer seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Chu wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Boxer is now in half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Chu is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Boxer scores with a couple of nice shots.
Boxer lands with a punch from half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Boxer tries to stand but can't do so whilst Chu controls his leg.
Boxer has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Boxer prevents Chu from improving his position.

Boxer seems to be looking for submissions.
Boxer working over Chu with some ground and pound. Chu looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Eladio Chu's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
