Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Fu Gazi (ranked 3681 p4p, 341 weight class) and Sergey Makarov (ranked 3713 p4p, 343 weight class). Sergey Makarov is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sergey Makarov!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Reed Andrews and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gazi throws a sloppy head kick and Makarov moves out of range easily.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

As Gazi backs off Makarov throws a huge counter combo but Gazi manages to avoid it all.

Makarov shoots in and gets a takedown into Gazi's guard.

My spies in St Petersburg MMA Gym inform me that Makarov has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Makarov slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Let's hope that Makarov has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Makarov is working Gazi over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Makarov is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Makarov is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Fu Gazi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Makarov looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Gazi can't hide his disappointment, as Makarov celebrates the victory.
