Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jacob Cass (ranked 7593 p4p, 522 weight class) and Fathy Ahmad (ranked 24687 p4p, 542 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jacob Cass!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 2, fighting out of Los Angeles, Fathy Ahmad!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Tiny Johnson and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cass fails with the takedown
and Ahmad cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Cass fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Ahmad on the side of the head.
Ahmad scores with a body shot.
Ahmad should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Ahmad looks to land a combination. Cass sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Cass misses with a series of wild punches.
Jacob Cass seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
No joy there for Ahmad, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Cass fails with a takedown attempt.
Cass doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Ahmad counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jacob Cass. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Cass throws a combination that misses
and Ahmad cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ahmad comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Cass goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

Cass clinches with his opponent.
Ahmad has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Ahmad is looking to break free of the clinch but Cass has double underhooks.
Cass tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Ahmad avoids it.
Ahmad looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Cass breaks the clinch.
Cass takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Cass instigates a clinch.

Cass jumps guard.
Cass has control of Ahmad's left arm, preventing Ahmad from doing any damage.
Ahmad wants to stand and escape but instead Cass has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Cass looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Ahmad really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cass. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Cass prevents Ahmad from getting back to his feet.
Ahmad is wriggling around but Cass manages to pass to half guard.
Cass keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Ahmad wants to get back to his feet.
Cass slows the pace down in half guard.

Cass is working for a submission of some sort.
Cass performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

Ahmad is looking to get back to is feet but Cass passes into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ahmad takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Ahmad is pushing Cass's head away, looking to escape. Cass manages to hold on to the position though.
A lull in the action here.
Cass's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Cass advances to mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Cass lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Ahmad hang on?
Ahmad is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Cass punishing his opponent with strikes.

Cass has hold of Ahmad's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Ahmad manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Ahmad is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Cass content just to control the position here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cass shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ahmad as he avoids it easily.
Jacob Cass is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Ahmad moves out of range of the strikes.
Nice takedown defense from Ahmad. No joy for Cass on that attempt.
Ahmad works over Cass's head and body with a nice combination.
Cass tries for a takedown but Ahmad circles away easily
and Ahmad counters with a two punch combo.

Cass rushes Ahmad and presses him up against the cage.

Cass manages to break the clinch.
Ahmad scores with a three punch combo!
Cass takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ahmad will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Cass drags the fight down to the ground.
Ahmad wants to stand but Cass has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Ahmad must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Cass manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ahmad manages to get himself to full guard.

Cass really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Ahmad will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Ahmad throws a right and a left that Cass avoids nicely.
Cass dives in and grabs Ahmad's left leg, looking for a takedown. Ahmad pushes down on Cass's head and hops out.
Ahmad fails to land with a series of punches.
Cass is looking for a counter combo.
Horrible takedown attempt by Cass or perhaps it was just good defense by Ahmad, which made it look bad.
A countering left hand to the body from Ahmad misses.
Ahmad lands a lovely overhand right.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Cass will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Ahmad let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Ahmad lands with a right hand.
Ahmad uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Cass closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Fathy Ahmad is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Cass has his takedown stuffed
and Ahmad makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Ahmad avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Cass closes the distance and clinches up with Ahmad, looking for a takedown. Cass pushes Ahmad against the cage but Ahmad circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Cass shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Ahmad as he jumps to the side.

Cass is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Ahmad is defending well.

Cass breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Ahmad. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Ahmad moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Cass closes this distance looking for a takedown but Ahmad circles away.
Ahmad lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Ahmad wants to break free but Cass has control.

Fathy Ahmad showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Cass is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Ahmad.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Cass.
Cass wants to clinch but Ahmad slips to the side
and Ahmad counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
A clash of legs there as Ahmad blocks the low kick.
Ahmad is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Ahmad takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Ahmad throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ahmad throws a leg kick but Cass sees it coming and checks it nicely.

Cass closes the distance and clinches.

Cass manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Ahmad wants to stand but Cass is controlling his posture from full guard.
Ahmad is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Cass doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Cass looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ahmad is one step ahead there.
Ahmad trying to stand up but can't free himself from Cass's guard.
Jacob Cass overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Ahmad tries to bum rush Cass with a series of wild strikes but Cass uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Cass doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Ahmad counters with a left to the body.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jacob Cass. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ahmad's jab looks to have found its range, popping Cass under the eye.
Cass with a poor takedown
and Ahmad counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Cass clinches up with Ahmad and pushes him back against the cage.
Cass looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
Ahmad is trying to force a seperation but Cass has the dominant position.

Cass ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Cass no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Ahmad wants to get up but he can't break Cass's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Ahmad has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Cass is adopting a defensive guard.
Ahmad tries to stand but Cass is controlling from the bottom.

Cass has his feet on Ahmad's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Cass has his takedown stuffed
and Ahmad counters with a straight right hand.
Cass fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Ahmad throws a series of strikes that have Cass backpedaling.

Ahmad scores with a one two! Cass had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Ahmad keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Ahmad stuns Cass with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Ahmad connects with a body shot.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Cass moves into the clinch.

Cass manages to break the clinch.

Cass moves into range and clinches up with Ahmad.
Cass looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Ahmad tries to circle away but Cass has him pinned against the cage.

And that's the end of the fight!
Fathy Ahmad comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Ahmad has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
