Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mateusz Biernat (ranked 3458 p4p, 426 weight class) and Shane Young (ranked 2953 p4p, 376 weight class). Biernat kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is I'm mothafookin beast. The crowd seem to be enjoying Young's choice of entrance music: Billie Eilish - "Bad Guy" . Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for Biernat with that takedown attempt.
Young throws a hook but Biernat blocks it.
Young has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Biernat is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Young throws a lazy right hand but Biernat sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Biernat fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Shane Young seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Biernat moves into range and clinches up with Young.

Young is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Biernat accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Young holds on and takes a little breather.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Biernat is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Young is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Young has escaped and now he's on top!
Biernat bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Young's guard.

Young remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
