PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bisandro Da Costa (ranked 4590 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zhang Li (ranked 5215 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Leandro Rodrigues and Matheus Silva.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Da Costa fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Da Costa shoots in looking for a takedown but Li manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Da Costa's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Li shoots in and gets a takedown into Da Costa's guard.
Li slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Li postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Li drops back looking for a leg! Da Costa is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Da Costa manages to kick Li off! Li jumps back into Da Costa's guard.

Li is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Li is in close to Da Costa's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Da Costa has momentary wrist control but Li slips an elbow through the middle.

Li has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Li wants to lay and pray for a moment but Da Costa keeps working.

Li tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Li has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Da Costa takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Li is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Da Costa looks calm but he's in trouble here. Li gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Da Costa is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Li lets go of the hold and Da Costa can pop his arm back in it's socket.
