Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Paul Grant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Super Man (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Paul Grant has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Paul Grant!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Super Man!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big left from Grant misses.
Grant throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Grant misses with a wild combination.

Man gets a takedown into half guard.
Grant is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Man seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Grant does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Grant might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Grant trying to control but Man postures up.
Man seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Grant is looking for a sweep. Man is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Man is thwarting Grant's attempts to control the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Man shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Grant but Grant pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Grant throws a nice looking combination but Man bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Man tries for a takedown but Grant sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Grant shoots and misses

and Man counters with a shoot takedown. Grant fights it but they end up in guard.
Grant is breathing heavily.

Grant looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Man wants to control from the top but Grant keeps moving.
Man wants to stand but Grant is controlling his posture from full guard.

Grant throws his legs up looking for a submission but Man uses it to pass to side control.
Man grinds an elbow into Grant's temple.
Grant is trying to improve his position.
Man tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Man is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Grant's shoulder. That is not cool.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

You can see the frustration on Grant's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Man is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Grant has escaped the position, nice work there.
Grant manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Grant has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Man is working away from the top position though.
Grant tries to roll over but Man keeps him under control.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Man in particular looking to stall.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Grant is trying to get back to full guard.

Grant is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Super Man dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Man shoots in and bounces Grant off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Grant trying to control the position here.
Man postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Grant is trying to keep Man in close.
Man tries to free his leg and advance position but Grant is retaining full guard.
Man is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Grant working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Man doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Man manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Grant is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Grant avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Grant looks to land a body kick but Man moved away.
Man looks for a takedown but Grant sprawls well.
The fight stays on the outside here - Grant looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Man misses with a few strikes there.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Grant avoids a punch combination nicely.
Man tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Grant paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Man drives through with a takedown into guard.
Grant is trying to control the position but Man postures up.
Grant tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Man throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Grant wants to sweep here but Man controlling him for the moment.

Man wants to stand but Grant has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Grant is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Man controls from within his opponent's guard.
Man trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Grant trying to keep a closed guard but Man is proving a slippery customer.

Man really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Grant. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Man shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Man trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Grant manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Grant drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Grant jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Grant prevents Man from getting back to his feet.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Man throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Grant escapes and throws Man's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Grant wants to control but Man is keeping him busy.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Man shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Grant's guard.
Grant tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Man controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Man trying to control but Grant is working from the bottom.

Grant looking for a guillotine here but Man defends easily.

Man content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Paul Grant has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Man looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Grant throws a series of punches but Man moves out of range.
A head kick from Man lands but Grant takes it in his stride.
Man tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Grant throws a right hand that Man ducks under and follows up with a left that Man also avoids with ease.
Grant pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Man displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Grant throws out the jab.
Nice takedown defense from Grant. No joy for Man on that attempt.
Super Man is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Grant misses with a body kick.

And that's the end of the fight!
Super Man comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Man winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
