Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tappy Rebel (ranked 3473 p4p, 0 weight class) and Die Tomi (ranked 4530 p4p, 438 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tappy Rebel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Die Tomi!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Ryoma Takatsuka and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rebel clinches up against the cage.
Tomi managing to block the knees to the body from Rebel.
Rebel blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Tomi is trying to drag Rebel to the mat but Rebel just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Tomi pulls guard successfully.
Tomi thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Rebel trying to control the position from guard on top but Tomi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Rebel postures up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tomi manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Rebel manages to get himself to full guard.

Rebel is staying active underneath Tomi, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Rebel tries to get to full guard but Tomi has control of the leg.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rebel is working hard here to advance position.
Rebel wants to get back to full guard but Tomi has passed into side control.

Rebel parries the strikes from Tomi easily there. Tomi is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Rebel to escape.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Tomi takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

You get the feeling that Rebel really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Tomi prevents Rebel from getting the reversal.
Tomi takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Rebel is desperately trying to improve his position but Tomi has a good base and remains in mount.
BOOM! Tomi connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Rebel can't escape the position.
Rebel blocking the ground and pound.
Rebel on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Rebel tries to get out of the position.
Rebel wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
I really don't envy Rebel right now.

Tomi looking to break Rebel's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Rebel remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Tomi will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rebel scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Tomi is pressing down on Rebel's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Tomi has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Tomi wants to stand but Rebel is controlling the position.
Rebel distracts Tomi with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Rebel trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Rebel cracks Tomi with a solid left hand.

Tomi looking for a guillotine here but Rebel defends easily.
Tomi has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Tomi pushes a forearm under Rebel's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Rebel is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:47 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Die Tomi!
