Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Ripper (ranked 4719 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hector Salamanca (ranked 2693 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jack Ripper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Hector Salamanca!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Phil Schofield and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Salamanca throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Ripper is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Salamanca.

Ripper changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Salamanca looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Ripper taking a breather here.
Ripper seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Salamanca for as long as he can get away with.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ripper decides to stand up, so the ref orders Salamanca to his feet.

Salamanca feints and as Ripper raises his hands in defense, Salamanca changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Salamanca postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Ripper is looking to stand up but Salamanca isn't so interested in that idea.
Ripper has momentary wrist control but Salamanca slips an elbow through the middle.

Salamanca drops back, looking for a kneebar! Ripper looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Ripper looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Ripper!

Salamanca is trying to buck Ripper off.
Ripper slows the pace down.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Salamanca pushes Ripper away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Ripper gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Ripper content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Salamanca parries the strikes from Ripper easily there. Ripper is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Salamanca to escape.
Ripper lands a nice forearm strike.
Ripper controls the position from side control.
Salamanca wants to get back to his feet but Ripper drags him back down.

Ripper staying calm.
Ripper tries to move into full mount but can't pass Salamanca's legs.
Ripper in side control, just content to control the action for now.

Ripper decides to take the fight back to the feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Salamanca doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Ripper decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Salamanca's guard.
Salamanca looks winded!
Ripper postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ripper pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Salamanca is keeping the position for now.
Ripper controls from within his opponent's guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Ripper has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Salamanca misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Ripper moves into the clinch successfully.

Ripper has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Salamanca regains guard immediately.
Ripper controls from within his opponent's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ripper wants to pass the guard but Salamanca is keeping the position.
Ripper sitting in guard here, content to control.

Ripper stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Salamanca swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Salamanca being controlled here, momentarily.
Ripper continues to stall.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Ripper prevents Salamanca from getting back to his feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Jack Ripper is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Ripper drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Ripper is looking to work some ground and pound but Salamanca has wrist control.
Jack Ripper overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Ripper's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Ripper has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Ripper stands up and waves to Salamanca to follow him.

and Ripper counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Salamanca is breathing heavily.
Ripper perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Ripper decides to stand up.
Salamanca shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Ripper defends it nicely.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Nice sprawl there from Ripper as Salamanca shoots in.
As Salamanca looks to move away, Ripper throws a big counter combo but Salamanca just gets out of the way.

Ripper looking to score a takedown here. Salamanca is defending well but Ripper drives through and ends up in Salamanca's guard.
Ripper stays in close to Salamanca's body and controls the position.
Ripper is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Salamanca can do to turn this around?

Salamanca throws a lazy head kick

and Ripper counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Ripper throwing strikes but missing.
Ripper sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Salamanca keeping full guard, as Ripper tries to pass.
Ripper throws a strike but Salamanca rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Ripper is on top in guard.

Ripper trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Salamanca manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Salamanca throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Salamanca takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Salamanca has gone for a leg lock! Ripper slips out almost immediately though and dives into Salamanca's guard.

Ripper is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
We've been hearing that Ripper has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Ripper wants to pass the guard but Salamanca is keeping the position.
Ripper is pushing down on Salamanca's leg trying to pass to half guard. Salamanca is fighting to maintain full guard but Ripper has managed to sneak the leg through.

Ripper gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

and Ripper counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Ripper content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Ripper seems to be looking for submissions.
Salamanca is trying to stand.
Ripper tries to pass the half guard into mount. Salamanca knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ripper is controlling the pace.

Ripper wants to free his trapped foot but Salamanca is holding on for dear life with his legs.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Ripper shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Salamanca is trying to defend but Ripper finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Ripper is taking a breather. Salamanca says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Ripper decides to stand and escape the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Jack Ripper is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ripper, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
