Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rodrigo Batista (ranked 24129 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chengiz Yilmaz (ranked 3691 p4p, 0 weight class). Chengiz Yilmaz has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 1, fighting out of New York, Rodrigo Batista!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chengiz Yilmaz!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Eddie Farnsworth and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Batista shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Yilmaz defends it nicely.
Yilmaz let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Batista.
Batista moves out of the way of the counter high kick fromYilmaz.
Batista will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rodrigo Batista. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Yilmaz scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Batista has his foot on Yilmaz's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Yilmaz works his way back into a safe position though.
Yilmaz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Batista swivels though and keeps the full guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Batista controls Yilmaz momentarily but Yilmaz frees himself.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Yilmaz wants to stand and escape but instead Batista has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Batista wants to control from the top but Yilmaz keeps moving.

Yilmaz escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Batista gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Batista might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Batista gets caught napping as Yilmaz dives in and scores a takedown. Batista manages to retain guard.

Batista tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Batista thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Yilmaz looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Yilmaz connects with a nice short shot to Batista's temple.
Yilmaz blocks the strikes from Batista.
Batista is trying to maintain the position but Yilmaz is very close to passing his half guard.
Batista is pressing down on Yilmaz's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Batista is wriggling around but Yilmaz manages to pass to half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Yilmaz looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Yilmaz wants to stand up but Batista has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Yilmaz is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Yilmaz in particular looking to stall.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Yilmaz fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Batista avoids it really well and circles away.
Batista's corner calls for a 1-2. Batista obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Batista avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Batista closes the distance and clinches up with Yilmaz, looking for a takedown. Batista pushes Yilmaz against the cage but Yilmaz circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Yilmaz throws a big counter head kick but Batista avoids it with no problem.
Yilmaz tries to close the distance and clinch but Batista swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Batista moves in looking to clinch but Yilmaz pushes him off.

Yilmaz closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Batista kicks Yilmaz off and gets back to his feet.

Yilmaz throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Batista was covering up waiting for the punch and Yilmaz finishes the takedown easily into guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Yilmaz tries to free his leg and advance position but Batista is retaining full guard.
Batista is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Yilmaz stays in close to Batista's body and controls the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Batista closes this distance looking for a takedown but Yilmaz circles away.
Yilmaz throws a counter combo.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chengiz Yilmaz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Yilmaz ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Batista moves away.
Batista lands with a kick to the temple. Yilmaz shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Yilmaz pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Rodrigo Batista is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A bone on bone clash there as Yilmaz blocks the leg kick.

Yilmaz feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Batista pushes Yilmaz off and scrambles back to his feet.
Batista is looking to clinch.
Batista throws a right hand that Yilmaz ducks under and follows up with a left that Yilmaz also avoids with ease.
Yilmaz's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Batista connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Yilmaz scrambles back to his feet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Batista tries to clinch there but Yilmaz circles away.

Batista gets caught flat footed, as Yilmaz shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Yilmaz not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Yilmaz wants to stand but Batista is controlling his posture from full guard.
Batista looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Batista controls Yilmaz momentarily but Yilmaz frees himself.
Batista trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Yilmaz's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Yilmaz slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Yilmaz tries to close the distance and clinch but Batista swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Yilmaz shoots in and gets a takedown into Batista's guard.
Yilmaz passes Batista's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Yilmaz is controlling the pace.
Yilmaz really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Batista. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Yilmaz lands a nice short elbow.

Batista wants to improve his position but Yilmaz is controlling well.
Yilmaz not doing much here.

Yilmaz is trying to work for a kimura but Batista is defending well.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Yilmaz in particular looking to stall.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Batista tries to roll over but Yilmaz keeps him under control.
Batista really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill...
Still in half guard, Yilmaz seems content to control.
Batista regains full guard. Nicely done.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

I would just about give that final round to Chengiz Yilmaz.
I've got Yilmaz winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
