Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, David Alaba!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shane Young!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Ackerman and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Young throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Alaba.
Alaba fires out a quick counter leg kick but Young just manages to avoid it.

Young bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Young working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Young tries to move into full mount but can't pass Alaba's legs.
Young wants to take a breather but Alaba manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Young.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Young distracts Alaba with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Alaba knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Young on the ground.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Young stands up and waves to Alaba to follow him.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Alaba enables Young to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Alaba manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Young looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Young postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Young passes Alaba's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Young looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Young scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Young content to control rather than advance.
Young has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Young is pressing down on Alaba's thigh, looking to free his foot. Alaba is holding on for now.
Young sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Young thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Alaba's head.
Young passes the guard and advances to mount!
Young with a couple of short strikes.

Young looking to control and managing it successfully.
Alaba is wriggling around trying to escape.

Alaba is working to get back to half guard.

Young is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Young!
