PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Apollo Leostorm (ranked 4085 p4p, 0 weight class) and Juan Marques (ranked 4108 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Apollo Leostorm has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Apollo Leostorm seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Leostorm pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Leostorm misses with a body shot.
Leostorm throws a head kick but Marques moves out of range.
Leostorm lands a two punch combo.
Leostorm lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Leostorm moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Marques gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
letting Leostorm counter with a right hand.
Leostorm swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Marques takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Apollo Leostorm seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Leostorm fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Marques throws a body punch but Leostorm moves out of range.
Marques shoots in looking for a takedown. Leostorm tries to sprawl out of it but Marques keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Leostorm manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Marques blocks a low kick nicely.
Marques with the counter takedown but Leostorm avoids it easily.
Leostorm displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Marques.
Apollo Leostorm has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Juan Marques.

and Leostorm counters with a stiff right hand.
A left lands for Leostorm.
Marques loads up on a big right hand but Leostorm slips the punch.
A head kick by Leostorm misses

and Marques counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Leostorm is looking to stand back up but Marques counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Leostorm.

Leostorm is refusing to be controlled, as Marques sits in half guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Marques thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Leostorm's head.
Marques is nestled in close to Leostorm, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Marques lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Leostorm on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Leostorm tries to get out of the position.
Marques slips a nice elbow through Leostorm's hands, connecting with Leostorm's forehead.

Marques throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Marques working over Leostorm with some ground and pound. Leostorm looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Marques trying to control from half guard but Leostorm is working away.
Marques uses his free foot to push down on Leostorm's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Leostorm.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Marques cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Marques trying to control but Leostorm is having none of it.
Marques has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Marques fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Marques looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Leostorm covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!
