Main event

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jake Peterson (ranked 22710 p4p, 3672 weight class) and Hyu Head (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Peterson comes to the cage accompanied by Berzerk by Eminem. The crowd seem to be enjoying Head's choice of entrance music: Eye of the tiger. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 38 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jake Peterson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 29 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hyu Head!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Ben Watson and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Peterson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Head has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Peterson is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Peterson wants to take the fight to the mat but Head manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Peterson is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Head gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Peterson working some nice short punches in the clinch.
A nice left hand lands by Peterson.

Head breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Peterson closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Head's guard.

Head pushes Peterson off and scrambles back to his feet.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Peterson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Head has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
A combination from Peterson does no damage.
Peterson throws a right and a left that Head avoids nicely.
Peterson slaps away a takedown attempt from Head, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Peterson went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

We've been hearing that Peterson has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Head is looking to control Peterson's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Head avoid being mounted?
Head is in trouble now - Peterson has advanced to mount!
Peterson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Peterson cracks Head with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Peterson can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Head is looking to escape.

Head is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Head really wants to buck Peterson off and get back to his feet.

Peterson is working for a guillotine from mount but Head frees his head quite easily.

Peterson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Head is bucking up trying to escape but Peterson cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Peterson lands a big shot there that rocks Head but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Peterson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Head fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Head shoots in for a takedown but Peterson shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
No joy there for Peterson, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Head shoots for a takedown but Peterson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Jake Peterson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hyu Head.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Peterson uses his free foot to push down on Head's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Head.

Peterson wants to control the action but instead Head gets a body lock and reverses into Peterson's guard! Nice work!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Peterson enables Head to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Peterson manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Head takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Peterson is striking off his back. Head thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.
Peterson pushes Head off looking to stand but Head dives back in and keeps control.

Peterson closes the distance and clinches up with Head, looking for a takedown. Peterson pushes Head against the cage but Head circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Hyu Head spoke after the fight, saying '"Everybody out there know I beat him, I controlled the fight, he was missing, I hit him plenty more times. I beat him.Let me talk something... I want to thank the whole hood who came out here. I love y'all. I did this for the hood, you know I beat that boy.'.
