Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Boy Walton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Daniel Spong!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walton throws a looping overhand right but Spong ducks down to avoid it.
Spong shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Walton as he jumps to the side.
Walton fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Spong on the side of the head.
Spong's jab looks to have found its range, popping Walton under the eye.
Walton misses with a head kick.
Spong looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
A cross from Walton lands.
Spong's corner calls for a 1-2. Spong obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Walton tries to sprawl but Spong drives through with a takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Spong has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Spong got a little sloppy there for a moment and Walton has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Spong has managed to get both his arms back between Walton's legs - danger averted.

Spong stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Walton swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Walton escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Spong gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Spong dives in and grabs Walton's left leg, looking for a takedown. Walton pushes down on Spong's head and hops out.

Walton lets loose with a powerful body kick. Spong will feel that in the morning.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Spong.
Spong throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Walton's waist but Walton gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Spong off to one side.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Spong accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Walton is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Spong is aware though and is defending well.
Walton pulls Spong in close to prevent any damage.
Spong postures up and lands a big shot to Walton's brow.
Spong tries to free his leg and advance position but Walton is retaining full guard.

Spong working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

It looks like John Boy Walton has been cut.
Spong creates some space for himself and unloads with a monster right hand! That one landed with a sickening thud - Walton is out cold and this one is all over! Spong climbs onto the cage to celebrate with his corner!! He's shouting something into the camera but he's still got his mouthpiece in so God knows what he's actually saying.
