Undercard bout


Evan Knuckle had a terrible time trying to make weight. After initially coming in at 158.7, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. Stepping on the scales for a second time, he still failed to make the required weight and after much deliberation, his fight with Brian McFoy was cancelled.

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Gabriel Costa (ranked 4616 p4p, 4537 weight class) and Franklin Worner (ranked 286 p4p, 282 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Worner with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Worner fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Costa looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Worner closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Costa quickly recovers to half guard.

Costa has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Worner is on him like a limpet, forcing Costa back against the cage.

We've been hearing good reports from Costa's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Lruce Bee.
