Ricky Thompson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Thompson takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Thompson shoots in for a takedown but Shida shows good takedown defense.
Thompson shoots in looking for a takedown. Shida tries to sprawl out of it but Thompson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Shida manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Shida feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Thompson sprawling to the canvas! Thompson rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Shida finish him?!
It looks like Ricky Thompson has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Shida cracks Thompson with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Thompson tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Shida pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Thompson is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
