Carney comes to the cage accompanied by Go Ham On Em'. Kuba Majewski told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! Mer Jimenez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jimenez looks to land a combination but Balbacoa avoids it well.
Balbacoa stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Jimenez.
No joy there for Jimenez, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Balbacoa throws a hook to the side of Jimenez's head but Jimenez sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Jimenez could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Mangler stalks Alves and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Alves's face. Alves staggers backwards, shaken.
Alves looks for the body kick but Mangler saw that one coming.

Mangler pushes Alves up against the cage in a clinch.
Mangler on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Mangler tries to pull guard but Alves holds him up against the cage and eventually Mangler drops back down to his feet.
Alves with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Mangler jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Alves walks away with a smile on his face. Mangler gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Alves pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Alves wants to clinch.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Mangler is defended easily by Alves.
Thiago Alves has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Seth Mangler.

Alves ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Mangler keeps the fight on the outside.
Mangler takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Alves fails in his attempt to clinch.
Mangler uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Alves.

Alves has closed the distance and engaged Mangler in a clinch.

Mangler pulls guard effortlessly.
