The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mehov takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Mehov gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and John counters with a straight right hand.
Horrible takedown attempt by Mehov or perhaps it was just good defense by John, which made it look bad.
John wants to counter the offense by Mehov and move into the clinch position.
John keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
John throws out a counter right but Mehov avoids it with no problem.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jack Mehov. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
John connects with a body shot that sends Mehov's belly button to the back.

John is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Mehov with a body shot.

A momentary lapse in concentration from John enables Mehov to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. John manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Mehov tries to free his leg and advance position but John is retaining full guard.

Mehov thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Mehov drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but John manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Mehov has John in his guard.


John is sitting in close to Mehov's body. Mehov has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! John is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, John is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Mehov.

Undercard bout

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kody Harbrant (ranked 5780 p4p, 5717 weight class) and Tounry Winner (ranked 441 p4p, 436 weight class). Kody Harbrant had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 147.1lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. On his way into the cage it seems that Kody Harbrant has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Kody Harbrant seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?
