Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tourney Guy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Paulo Taco!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, William Peck and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Taco uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Guy.
Horrible takedown attempt by Taco or perhaps it was just good defense by Guy, which made it look bad.
Taco looks to land a left hand but Guy moved out of range nicely.
Taco misses with a leg kick

and Guy counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Guy.
Guy keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Taco's efforts to push away.
Guy lands with a short punch from the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Taco is working for takedown but Guy is calmly controlling the position for now.
Guy lands with a short shot to the head.
A shot in the inside from Guy.
Taco trying to stall but Guy improves his position.
Taco's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Guy is pressed up against the cage. Taco has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Guy down to the mat. Guy avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Tourney Guy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paulo Taco.
Guy ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Taco moves away.
Guy throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Guy tries to close the distance and clinch up but Taco swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Taco counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Taco thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Guy's head.
Taco wants to control but Guy is keeping him busy.
Guy is trying to stand.

Taco trying to control from half guard but Guy is working away.
Taco thows a huge punch but Guy dodges it nicely.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Taco moves out of range of the strikes.
Taco throws a leg kick but Guy moved away.
The fighters circling - Guy throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Guy misses with a looping right.
Guy ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Taco shoots in looking for a takedown. Guy tries to sprawl out of it but Taco keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Guy manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Guy throws a jab but it's blocked by Taco.
Taco dives in and grabs Guy's left leg, looking for a takedown. Guy pushes down on Taco's head and hops out.
Guy wants to clinch

and Taco counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Taco throwing shots but Guy is blocking nicely.
Still in half guard, Taco seems content to control.
Taco is looking to take a break and control but Guy is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Guy is trying to stand back up but Taco is controlling him
Taco lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Taco is looking for a kimura here.
Taco not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Tourney Guy dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Guy stuffs the takedown attempt from Taco. Taco gets slowly back to his feet.
Guy misses with a hook. Taco ducked under it nicely.
Taco feints the counter takedown.
Guy misses with a wild body shot.
Taco lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Guy wants to clinch up but Taco keeps it at a distance.
Guy is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Taco can do to turn this around?

and Taco counters with a nice double leg into side control. Guy won't be happy with that.

The strikes coming from Taco are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Taco is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Guy is trying to escape and Taco transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Guy is forced to tap! Nice work there by Taco! Very nice indeed!

Morrsion chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Keene can pounce on him.

Keene is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Morrsion is aware though and is defending well.
Keene looking to hit a scissor sweep but Morrsion is one step ahead there.
Morrsion wants to control from the top but Keene keeps moving.

Keene had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Morrsion defends it easily.
Morrsion keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Keene's head.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Morrsion swings around for an armbar but Keene sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Morrsion's guard.

Keene is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Morrsion's shoulder. That is not cool.

Keene wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Morrsion, who protects the arm well.
Keene throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Keene throws a strike aimed at the side of Morrsion's head but Morrsion avoids it well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Morrsion taking punishment in the form of punches.
Keene tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Keene advances to full mount.
Morrsion wants to control but Keene is having none of it.

Morrsion is desperately trying to improve his position but Keene has a good base and remains in mount.

Keene cracks Morrsion with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Poor strikes thrown by Keene there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Morrsion fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Keene avoids it really well and circles away.
Jonathan Morrsion seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Keene throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Keene perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Keene is trying to control the action in half guard but Morrsion is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Keene throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Keene works his way into full mount!
Keene lands a couple of good shots and Morrsion has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Keene is punishing Morrsion with strikes - can he finish him?!
Oooh a big shot gets through from Keene. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!

Keene has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Morrsion's body.

Keene has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Morrsion! Can he survive? No! He's out! Keene gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
