Escobar jumps guard but Whittaker stands there with Escobar around his waist. Escobar gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dante Escobar. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Escobar ties up his opponent against the ropes and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Escobar no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Whittaker told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Oh but Escobar is tightening it up a little... Whittaker has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Whittaker reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Whittaker taps out! Nice BJJ there by Escobar!

Both fighters are only really looking to counter, so after a good 30 seconds of circling eachother endlessly, the referee has stepped in and told them both to be more aggressive.
