The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gutierrez tries to bum rush Black with a series of wild strikes but Black uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Black feinted with a counter takedown.
Gutierrez uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Black.
Gutierrez is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Gutierrez has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Gutierrez digs a good body shot into Black's ribs.
Black shoots for a takedown but Gutierrez saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Gutierrez cracks Black with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Black fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Black thows a left - swing and a miss!
Black sets himself, and Gutierrez steps forward looking for the clinch! Black avoids it this time.
Gutierrez will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Black half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Gutierrez has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Black has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Gutierrez after a bit of a struggle.

Black shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Black showed some decent athleticism there.
Gutierrez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Black. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Black is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Black goes for an armbar but Gutierrez turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Gutierrez.
Black is pulling down on Gutierrez's head. It's preventing any offense from Gutierrez, at least for the moment.

Alex Gutierrez is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Black is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Rojumanong quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Fox has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Rojumanong celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Richard has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Halldor Omarsson (ranked 1820 p4p, 201 weight class) and Test Fighter D (ranked 2120 p4p, 231 weight class). Halldor Omarsson had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 146.9lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight.
