The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Coco throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.

Honda stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Coco.

Honda throws the left hand but Coco avoids the punch easily.
Honda connects with a good right hand that stumbles Coco. Coco circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

It looks like Fanta Coco has been cut.
Honda has his takedown stuffed
and Coco counters with a left to the body.

Coco throws a half hearted mid kick.
Honda changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Honda has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Honda ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Honda tries to score a power double leg takedown but Coco sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Honda somewhat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Edmond Honda. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Honda fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Coco sprawls well initially but Honda persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Coco is staying active underneath Honda, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Honda working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Honda is nestled in close to Coco, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

That has opened up Fanta Coco's cut even more.
