Collins is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Hayashi lets go of the hold and Collins can pop his arm back in it's socket.

McGraw scores with a nice right hand.
McGraw throws a body punch but Laranja moves out of range.
Nice defenses there by Laranja.
Laranja shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has McGraw pinned against the cage. McGraw gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
As Laranja backs off McGraw throws a huge counter combo but Laranja manages to avoid it all.
McGraw ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Laranja moves away.

Laranja moves into the clinch.
Laranja fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Laranja tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. McGraw smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Renato Laranja. That's going to take a lot out of him.
McGraw throws a body punch but Laranja moves out of range.
Laranja feinted with a counter takedown.

McGraw gets a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McGraw lands with a short head shot on the inside.
A quick uppercut on the inside from McGraw.
Laranja jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as McGraw walks away with a smile on his face. Laranja gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
McGraw misses with a jab to the body

and Laranja decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in McGraw's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
McGraw is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Laranja is controlling him.
Laranja wants to control from the top but McGraw keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Laranja pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. McGraw is keeping the position for now.
McGraw really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Laranja. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
McGraw is looking to stand up but Laranja isn't so interested in that idea.

Laranja drops back looking for a leg! McGraw is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and McGraw manages to kick Laranja off! Laranja jumps back into McGraw's guard.

McGraw wants to stand and escape. He's got his foot on Laranja's hips, looking to push off. But Laranja grabs a hold of the leg and drops back for an ankle lock! It's hard to tell if he's got it. Both fighters look composed - OH, not anymore they don't! McGraw screams like a kid who's trapped his fingers in the car door and taps out! Yikes, that must have hurt - hopefully it's not snapped anything!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Heel Hook). Renato Laranja!
After the fight, Renato Laranja was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
