The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alvbris shoots in looking for a takedown. Vanna tries to sprawl out of it but Alvbris keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Vanna manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Alvbris scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Vanna isn't going anywhere.

The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Vanna has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Vanna and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Alvbris felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Vanna is taking a breather. Alvbris says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Vanna's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Steve Cusumano (ranked 1607 p4p, 181 weight class) and Elgin Turner (ranked 725 p4p, 92 weight class). Cusumano's entrance music is Gamefire. A fine choice. Turner comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Wu-Tang Clan - Da Mystery Of Chessboxin' kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.
