Hugo drives through with a takedown into Maeda's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Maeda is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Hugo defends well.
Maeda bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hugo's guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hugo can do anything to dispel that myth.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Maeda connects with a nice short shot to Hugo's temple.

Maeda lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Maeda wants to work for an arm triangle but Hugo is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Maeda lands a nice short elbow.
Hugo is not content to let Maeda control the position.
Maeda not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
