Butabi lands a right hook to the body.
Butabi lands the left hand.
Smith fails with the takedown.
Butabi feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Smiths jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Smith takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
The fight stays on the outside here - Smith looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Butabi is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Smith with a body shot.
Smith swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Butabi counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Butabi connects with a good right hand that stumbles Smith. Smith circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Smith shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Butabi as he avoids it easily.

Butabi fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Smith looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

enabling Butabi to counter with a crisp jab.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jesus Smith. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Butabi cracks a nice hook into Smith's ribs.
Smith takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Butabi has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Kat lands a big uppercut and Leonhard crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Leonhard looks OK. Kat waves Leonhard back to his feet!
Jim Leonhard seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Leonhard throws a nice looking combination but Kat bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Kat misses with an uppercut. Leonhard saw that one coming.

Markov postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Sunchez is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Markov, into his guard.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yaqhar connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Sigthordisson momentarily.
Sigthordisson keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

Yaqhar has Sigthordisson up against the cage in a clinch.
Still in the clinch, Sigthordisson scores with a nice short uppercut.

Yaqhar breaks from the clinch.
Sigthordisson thuds his shin into the meat of Yaqhar's side.
Yaqhar gets cracked there but stands up to it.

and Sigthordisson counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Yaqhar takes one on the button.
Yaqhar gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Sigthordisson gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Yaqhar is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!

Baldock has one foot on Chaos's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Baldock tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Chaos manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Baldock fails with an attempt to clinch.

Chaos drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Baldock wants to get back to his feet but Chaos drags him back down.
Baldock takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

Chaos working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Baldock pushes Chaos away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Chaos gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Chaos is working to tighten his grip on Baldock's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Baldock has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Chaos is really squeezing tight and eventually Baldock passes out! Chaos breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Max Chaos!
After winning the bout, Max Chaos thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
