It's a brutal combination of punches from Makumba! Medina is backing up but he can't get away as Makumba lands with one final shot to the jaw that drops Medina and ends the fight. Great knockout.

Van Damme tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Magnum manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
A little feinted left hand from Magnum on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Magnum throws a body kick that misses.
Magnum connects with a leg kick. Van Damme looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Magnum fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
A head kick misses from Magnum.
Justin Magnum seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Van Damme fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Magnum is out of range.
Magnum moves out of range of the body kick.
Magnum appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.

Van Damme is backing up but Magnum catches him with a final right hook that drops him! Van Damme covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! Magnum Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!

A very excited looking Justin Magnum rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bill Shorton!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Darius Henderson and Ron Honeybunn.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A slow jab from Shorton misses its intended target.
Bill Shorton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Piano tries to close the distance and clinch up but Shorton swats him away and circles back towards the center.
A big left from Shorton misses.
Piano misses with the body kick
and Shorton cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Piano ducks under a wild hook from Shorton.
Good exchange - Shorton coming out on top.

Piano drives through and clinches with Shorton against the cage.
Piano blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Piano goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Piano lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Shorton throws a punch but it's blocked by Piano .
Shorton misses with some punches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Shorton creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Shorton swings wildly with an uppercut but Piano uses good head movement to avoid it.

Shorton throws a hook but Piano avoids it easily.
Piano swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Donk. Piano catches Shorton right on the button with a cross.
Piano ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Shorton moves away.
Shorton throws an off balance right hand
and Piano counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Piano looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Piano misses with a looping left.
Piano uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Shorton.
Piano tries to land a front kick but Shorton steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Shorton misses with a body shot.
Piano showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Shorton.
Shorton keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Shorton looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Shorton throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Piano takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Piano lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Shorton backs up against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Shorton bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Piano 's head backwards.
Shorton has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight.
Shorton tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Piano was well out of range. Poor timing from Shorton.
Shorton takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Shorton looks winded!
Piano scores with a jab to the body.
Piano throws a body kick that misses.
Shorton walks into a straight right, dropping him to the canvas! Piano swarms him and finishes the fight with a hail of punches! What a brutal finish!

After the fight, Rick Piano was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
