Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sasaki Shinji (ranked 4052 p4p, 0 weight class) and Trenton Diaz (ranked 3399 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Sasaki Shinji!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Trenton Diaz!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Santiago Holmes and Sandra Marshall.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shinji fails with a takedown attempt.

Diaz fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Shinji, pushing him back against the cage.

Diaz manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Diaz throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Shinji stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Diaz swivels though and keeps the full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Diaz can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Shinji controls the pace.

Diaz is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Shinji is looking to stand up but Diaz won't let him.
Shinji is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Diaz had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Shinji defends it easily.

Shinji drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Shinji jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Diaz really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Shinji. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Diaz throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Shinji is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Diaz is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Shinji is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Diaz keeping moving, preventing Shinji from controlling successfully.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Diaz looking to hit a scissor sweep but Shinji is one step ahead there.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Shinji gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Shinji wants to stand but Diaz has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Shinji displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Diaz.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Diaz shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Shinji as he jumps to the side.
Shinji tries to counter by clinching up but Diaz breaks away and moves out of range.
Shinji fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

A close round but Trenton Diaz will probably get the nod.

Sasaki Shinji overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Shinji fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Shinji is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Diaz can do to turn this around?
Shinji tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Diaz is squirming around, avoiding Shinji's attempts to control the action.
Diaz is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes.

Shinji prevents Diaz from standing back up.

Shinji winds up and cracks Diaz with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Shinji lands strikes from half guard.
Shinji is looking to advance position but Diaz won't allow it.
Shinji is just content to waste time from the top position. Diaz takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Diaz has momentary wrist control but Shinji slips an elbow through the middle.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sasaki Shinji dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Shinji rushes Diaz and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Shinji can't get the takedown.
Shinji goes for a takedown in the clinch but Diaz prevents it.
Diaz jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Shinji walks away with a smile on his face. Diaz gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Shinji avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Shinji misses with a series of wild punches.
Diaz throws a counter combo.

Diaz decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Shinji is staying active underneath Diaz, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Shinji is pressing down on Diaz's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Diaz is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Diaz is continuing to stall.

Diaz decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Diaz shoots in for a takedown but Shinji shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Sasaki Shinji has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Trenton Diaz.
Shinji goes for a double leg but Diaz avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Diaz continues to drive forward.
Sasaki Shinji is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Diaz misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Shinji tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Shinji bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Diaz is trying to buck Shinji off.
Shinji wants to lay and pray for a moment but Diaz keeps working.

Shinji tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Diaz is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Shinji asserts his dominance and retains side control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Sasaki Shinji.
I think Shinji has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
