The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Franco.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Franco is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Whittaker is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Franco lands a decent elbow from side control.
Franco has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Whittaker is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

It looks like Franco might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Franco feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Let's hope that Franco has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Whittaker knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Franco on the ground.

Franco drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Franco jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Franco has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Whittaker regains guard immediately.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Green changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Murphy looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva shoots in but Carruthers avoids the takedown attempt easily.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Silva.
Jimmy Carruthers has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pablo Jr Silva.
Carruthers ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Carruthers, right into the meat.
Silva looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Silva is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Silva tightens his grip and picks Carruthers up, before dumping him to the ground. Carruthers manages to land in guard.

Silva is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Carruthers wants to stand and escape but Silva is having none of it.
Silva controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Silva's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Silva misses with a lunging right hand
and Carruthers connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Silva throws a leg kick
and Carruthers counters with a right, left combo that wobbles Silva badly! Carruthers follows up with a massive right hook, straight to the bridge of the nose that knocks Silva out cold! Oh wow, what a finish! Very reminiscent of Koscheck vs Yoshida as Carruthers finished him against the cage.

Gleeson moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
De Negri avoids a punch combination nicely.
Gleeson throws a nice outside leg kick.
De Negri throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Gleeson has been working on his boxing with his coaches at All Star Performance Institute in the buildup to the fight.
Gleeson scores with a nice strike.

Gleeson tries to sprawl but De Negri drives through with a takedown into half guard.

De Negri looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Gleeson wants to sweep but De Negri has passed to side control!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

De Negri has hold of Gleeson's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Gleeson tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - De Negri cranks the arm and Gleeson screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Gleeson, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

McDonald tries to keep at a distance but Steve has taken the fight into the clinch.
McDonald tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Steve just stands there and leans against the cage.

McDonald moves in looking to clinch but Steve pushes him off.

Cathaway shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

It looks like Jimmy Cathaway has been cut.
Cathaway throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

Cathaway slips under a jab.
Sanna lands a nice looking body shot.
