The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomes does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Gomes darts in looking for a takedown but Shah gets double underhooks and turns Gomes into the cage.
Gomes's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Shah connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Gomes scrambles back to his feet.
Gomes throws a big shot that misses.
Shah throws out a powerful jab.
Shah moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Shah feints a jab promting Gomes to slip. Shah then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Gomes slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Shah lands with a cross.
Shah's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Shah duly obliges.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gomes misses with a takedown attempt
and Shah counters with a huge left! Gomes is in big trouble! He's backing up but Shah isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Gomes from any more damage. A dominating finish by Shah!

Metharom lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
