The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Austin misses with a hook
letting Paul counter with a right hand.

A decent looking cross lands there for Paul.

Austin takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Austin swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
It appears Paul was looking to counter with a kick there.

Paul tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Austin was well out of range. Poor timing from Paul.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Austin has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Austin is defended easily by Paul.

Austin tries to close the distance and clinch but Paul swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Paul fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Paul is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Austin has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Paul is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Bryan Paul has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Steve Austin.

The referee is keeping an eye on Paul - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

The fighters circle, before Paul throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Austin's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Paul lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!

Romero's coach down at Kalashnikov MMA Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Romero's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Raymondo Romero seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rodrigues throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Rodrigues loads up on a big right hand but Romero slips the punch.
Rodrigues looks for a takedown but Romero sprawls well.
Romero throws a hook but Rodrigues avoids it easily.

Rodrigues scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Romero bucks up and tries to throw Rodrigues off but instead Rodrigues has got his back!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Romero is trying to get back to his feet but Rodrigues has full control of the position and if anything, Romero has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Rodrigues is persistently looking for the submission but Romero is defending it well.

Romero is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Rodrigues gets his way!

Romero is trying to escape but he's just digging himself into more trouble. Rodrigues manages to sink in the hooks and gets a rear naked choke to end the fight in impressive fashion.

Margera takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Mayorga feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Margera's calf.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Antonio Mayorga will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Mayorga's jab looks to have found its range, popping Margera under the eye.
Mayorga goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
