The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ray looks to throw the jab but Imbula is out of range.
Ray connects with a single shot there.
Ray takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

It looks like Jake Ray has been cut.
Ray throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Ray. Imbula shrugs it off though.
Ray has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Imbula.
Imbula connects with a body shot that sends Ray's belly button to the back.
Ray has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Imbula.

Ray closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ray misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

You can see the frustration on Imbula's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Kriel stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kriel wants it to stay on the feet.
Kriel appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.
Jones looks for a takedown but Kriel sprawls well.
Jones shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kriel as he jumps to the side.
A countering left hand to the body from Kriel misses.

Jones goes for a double leg but Kriel avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Kriel continues to drive forward.

Kriel has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Jones is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Jones takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Jones enables Kriel to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Jones manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Sambulo Yeboah (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Franklin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yeboah comes into the arena with Lionel Richie - All Night Long blaring out of the sound system. The crowd seem to be enjoying Franklin's choice of entrance music: Tron Cat- Tyler, The Creator. On his way into the cage it seems that Sambulo Yeboah has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Sambulo Yeboah seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Yeboah lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
