The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Singh misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Singh misses with a series of wild punches.
Balwinder Singh seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nice takedown defense from Singh. No joy for Powers on that attempt.
Singh lets loose with a powerful body kick. Powers will feel that in the morning.
Powers looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Singh is fending him off so far but Powers persists. Nope, Singh circles away and we're back to standing.

Powers shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Singh napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Singh is pushing Powers up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Singh drops Powers with a naaaaasty hook - Powers is in real trouble here! Singh dives in to side control and pounds out his opponent for a TKO victory! The crowd goes nuts!

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Gouveia takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Gouveia has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Joe is looking to improve his position.
Joe pushes Gouveia off looking to stand but Gouveia dives back in and keeps control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Joe can do anything to dispel that myth.

Kres throws a right hand that Jericho ducks under and follows up with a left that Jericho also avoids with ease.

Jericho is looking to break free of the clinch but Kres has double underhooks.

Jericho shoots for a takedown but Kres saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Kres keeps the fight on the outside.

Kres gets caught flat footed, as Jericho shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Jericho crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Kres - the referee stops the clock and Jericho gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Kres. Jericho manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Jericho jumps guard but Kres stands there with Jericho around his waist. Jericho gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Smithers lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
