A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Idowu accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Pain controls Idowu momentarily but Idowu frees himself.

Pain pushes a forearm under Idowu's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Idowu is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Newton tries for a takedown but Cesar Chavez circles away easily
and Cesar Chavez cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Newton shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Cesar Chavez 's guard.

Cesar Chavez has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Newton is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Cesar Chavez .
