The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jab by Day.
Day digs a good hook to Jitz's body.
Jitz gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Day.
Nice jab there from Day.
Day bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Jitz's head.
Day comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Jitz on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Day fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Day gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Jitz should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Jitz jumps guard but Day stands there with Jitz around his waist. Jitz gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Jitz is trying to pull guard but Day has him pressed against the ropes.
Day working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.

Day lands with a light punch inside.

Jitz is rocked!

Day breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Jitz is still on wobbly legs! Can Day finish him?
Day lands with a good body shot.
Day is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Day shakes his hands by his side, trying to relax. Jitz takes his eyes off the ball for a moment - Day sees the opportunity and cracks him with a massive hook! Jitz bends double and collapses on top of himself - he's out! The crowd are going absolutely nuts! Wow, what a knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Donnie Darko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dmitri Nosula!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Marco Blurström and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Darko misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Darko changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Nosula tries to avoid it but Darko manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Nosula to the ground. Nosula escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Nosula enables Darko to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Nosula manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Darko has gone for a leg lock! Nosula slips out almost immediately though and dives into Darko's guard.

Darko tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Darko had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Nosula defends it easily.
Nosula slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Darko has his foot on Nosula's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Nosula works his way back into a safe position though.
Nosula must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Darko working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Nosula doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Nosula manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Darko has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Nosula doesn't defend quickly enough and Darko has managed to lock this one up! Can Nosula escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Darko on a fantastic submission victory.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Nurkkanen has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Amaral lands an elbow just above Nurkkanen 's eye.

Amaral escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Amaral, as that shot connected.
