Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Banner takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Banner takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Rivera throws out a powerful jab.
Banner uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Rivera.

A cross from Rivera lands.
Rivera misses the shot to the body.
Banner attempts a counter takedown but Rivera avoids it well and moves away.
An inside leg kick lands from Rivera.
Rivera lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Banner circles away quickly and effectively.
Juancho Rivera seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Pouncey uses his free foot to push down on Kelly's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Kelly.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Swagger shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Williams as he avoids it easily.
Williams has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Swagger is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Swagger bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Swagger trying to control the position but Williams is working away.

Swagger swings around for an armbar but Williams sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Swagger's guard.
Williams must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Williams can do anything to dispel that myth.
Williams wants to stand but Swagger is controlling the position.

Swagger is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Swagger is working Williams over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Swagger has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Swagger wants to control from the top but Williams keeps moving.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Swagger accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Swagger postures up in Williams's guard and throws a big left but Williams blocks it.

Williams manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Williams lands a right hand.

Williams is fighting off a takedown attempt but Swagger is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Williams to the mat. Williams regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Swagger loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Swagger stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Williams swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Williams can't keep his opponent in guard - Swagger advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Williams looks like he's trying to stand up.
Swagger is taking a breather. Williams says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Swagger is looking to advance position but Williams won't allow it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

and Williams counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Williams cracks a nice hook into Swagger's ribs.

Swagger feints and as Williams raises his hands in defense, Swagger changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Swagger throws a series of punches but Williams moves out of range.

Williams cracks Swagger with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Swagger looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Williams finish him?

Williams uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Swagger has time to react.
Oh Swagger is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Good leg kick by Williams there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Swagger looks to throw a body kick
and Williams counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Both fighters step back and shake their arms out. Williams engages and cracks Swagger with a massive lead left hook - Swagger tumbles to the floor, out cold! What a shot! Williams is delighted - all that hard work in training paid off!
