The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matarl tries to close the distance and clinch but Markos swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Markos tries a head kick but it misses.
Matarl throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Markos's waist but Markos gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Matarl off to one side.

Markos clinches with his opponent.
Matarl wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Markos has him pressed against the cage.

Markos has hold of one of Matarl's legs. Matarl is fighting the takedown attempt but Markos gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Markos wants to control from the top but Matarl keeps moving.
Matarl is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Canadian Dragon MMA that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
