We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Hobbs shoots in for a takedown but Sullivan shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Hobbs is pinned up against the ropes taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Sullivan lands a big head kick that sends Hobbs tumbling to the mat! Sullivan takes a step backwards and waves Hobbs back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Sullivan cracks Hobbs on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Hobbs falls backwards against the ropes. Sullivan follows up with more strikes that drop Hobbs to his knees. Sullivan keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Hobbs! This one is all over!

Adryan Preuss had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 172.1lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

With a record of 27 - 26 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, George Steele!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Steele scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Steele passes the guard and advances to mount!
Ruden is looking to improve his position but Steele isn't that keen on the idea.
Ruden is working hard here to advance position.
Steele trying to control but Ruden is having none of it.

Steele is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Ruden is surviving well by controlling Steele's body position as best he can.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Steele jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Ruden manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Steele trying to control the action but Ruden is working from the bottom.

Steele is working to tighten his grip on Ruden's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Ruden has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Steele is really squeezing tight and eventually Ruden passes out! Steele breaks the hold and jumps onto the ropes to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
