The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Basil. Rox does a little dance to reset his feet.

Rox lands a big head kick that sends Basil tumbling to the mat! Rox takes a step backwards and waves Basil back to his feet - he wants the finish!

It looks like LeRoy Basil has been cut.

Basil shoots in for a takedown but Rox shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Rox tries to bum rush Basil with a series of wild strikes but Basil uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Rox connects with a solid leg kick.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Basil drops his hands momentarily and Rox takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Horrible takedown attempt by Basil or perhaps it was just good defense by Rox, which made it look bad.
Basil just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromRox.
Benny Rox has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of LeRoy Basil.
Basil closes the distance but Rox moves to the side
and Rox counters with a stiff jab, followed by a cross and an uppercut! That's too much punishment for Basil to take - he tumbles to the canvas, blood pouring from his nose, barely conscious. That's the end of the fight! Great knockout by Rox!

That was a nice finish - just the right level of brutality to send everyone home happy.

He tries to recover but Wall pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Tural is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Opdauhl misses with a head kick.
Opdauhl connects with a body shot.
Opdauhl jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Sheck's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Opdauhl connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Sheck scrambles back to his feet.
Opdauhl lands with a kick to the ribs.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sheck uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Opdauhl.
Sheck changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Opdauhl takes a swing at Sheck's ribcage but misses.
Opdauhl throws a sloppy head kick and Sheck moves out of range easily.
And Sheck tries to counter it with a takedown but Opdauhl pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Opdauhl lands a nice looking kick to the body. Sheck takes a step back to recover.
Sheck takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Opdauhl misses with a low kick as Sheck jumps back.
Opdauhl connects with a good right hand that stumbles Sheck. Sheck circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Gary Opdauhl seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Opdauhl throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Opdauhl misses the jab.
Sheck drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Opdauhl defends it well.
Opdauhl has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Homunculus Alembic in the buildup to the fight.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Sheck working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Sheck wants to pass the guard but Opdauhl is keeping the position.

That was a close round but I would say that Gary Opdauhl will probably get the nod.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sheck throws a strike aimed at the side of Opdauhl's head but Opdauhl avoids it well.

Sheck is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Opdauhl looks calm but he's in trouble here. Sheck gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Opdauhl is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Sheck lets go of the hold and Opdauhl can pop his arm back in it's socket.

We've been hearing good reports from Matthews's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Matthews lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
White lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

It looks like Clay Matthews has been cut.
Matthews throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck White on the side of the head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Matthews cracks White with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
White tries to close the distance and clinch but Matthews swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
White throws a lazy uppercut
and Matthews cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
